Lab4Learning aims to set up working science labs in schools that lack resources, so kids can try real experiments - making it easier for them to explore STEM concepts firsthand.
Our Labs
We’re building basic labs that still get kids excited and thinking. Even though our spaces aren’t high-tech, they’ve got what matters - like tools, materials, and room to try things out
Simple lab tools like microscopes, test tubes, or beakers
Practical stuff to use in tests or builds
Online materials plus apps that make learning more hands-on
Challenges
We’re short on cash - still, things keep moving. Volunteers and allies hustle hard, hunting cheap gear while reusing stuff or tapping into local help.
Our Process
1. Figuring out what schools need in science class - we team up with them to see where help’s needed.
2. Our crew gets the lab ready using gear we’ve been given or stuff that’s cheap.
3. Teachers get help through training on how to use lab tools - also, they learn ways to add hands-on activities into lessons.
Impact
Even with limits, our labs still help. Because students run tests, they grow better at solving problems while gaining confidence in science and math.
Featured Lab Projects
Kenyatta High School in Nairobi's got a small chem lab. There, learners try mixing liquids using simple tools. They test reactions under teacher watch. Some wear goggles; others handle glassware carefully.
Mabati Secondary School in Kisumu has a biology lab. Students check out plant cells there. They also examine animal cells using microscopes now and then.
St. Joseph's School, Mombusa: a place where kids check out basic machines through hands-on science work instead of just reading books.
We’re happy about how things turned out - huge thanks to our supporters and those who pitched in. Side by side, we actually change something for these kids.
